Where do I start ??????????
Saturday. We left Cody Wyoming for Lyons Colorado to do a Habitat Build. We drove thru some beautiful countryside again and got into Timnath Colorado for a night in a Wal Mart. Now we only have about 35 miles to go to Lyons tomorrow but wanted to get in early and get set up for 2 weeks.
Sunday: We arrived in Lyons around 10 am and were met by Pam and Greg Lurz which we will be working with. Enjoyed catching up with all our travels and they had dinner for us along with Joe and Jerry who also work with Habitat.
Monday: We just rested and do laundry done, walked downtown, got some vegetables and fruit at a local fruit stand. Jerry and Joe came back over for dinner. Larry cooked some of our halibut on the grill and it was wonderful.
Tuesday: They work Tuesday thru Saturday with this affiliate so that is different for us., We reported to the meeting place and I have a lot to say about this. There is a group here called ALL HANDS and trust me they think they are in charge. Now you have to understand we were told that we would be House Leaders which is a lot like our Team Leaders with RV CAV. We were not introduced to anyone, no one from Habitat showed up and the guy who is in charge of ALL HANDS is a complete JERK. We worked with Pam and Greg at an electric company, painting and repairing things, not what we expected but never the less did it. That afternoon we were required to attend a 2 hour safety meeting which was a complete waste of time, Then we were suppose to meet with the group for the next day assignments which was another MESS. We were told they had NO house for us to be leaders on.
Wednesday:
Larry refused to go to work. He spoke with Mary Vandeveld, our RV CAV leader and it was decided that Habitat was being ambushed and we along with Greg and Pam needed to get out of Dodge. Habitat had chosen to let ALL HANDS run the show and that is not the way we work. After much discussion, Greg, Pam, Larry and I chose to go to Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park for some of Gods wonderful creation. Had a great lunch at a favorite place of Pam and Greg. During this time we were informed by our daughter that our 7 year old grandaughter woke up with the chicken pox and she is hoping the 3 yr old will get them next. No the problem is her husband is leaving on Sunday for a 2 week stint with the army for Lt. Col. school. Guess where we decided we needed to be in Indianapolis with her.
Thursday"We left Lyons around 10 am traveled into Kansas and spent the night in a rest area. Kansas has nice rest areas and allow you to stay overnight. They also have a separate place away from the trucks for RVs plus a dump station if you need it.
Friday: Another travel day in Missouri to a Wal Mart . We actually saw an exit on Interstate 70 for Halstead Road. Tomorrow we plan to travel on into Indiana and then on to Indy on Sunday,
