Tuesday 7-21-09

All of the exhibitors will be open this morning trying to convince you that what they are selling is better than the next one. We will probably go and purchase a few things that are needed for the coach. This consist of oil filters, fuel filters and I am sure more. These are the necessities not the "fluff". I am trying to say all my pennies for the trip out West starting in Sept.
We have a seminar to attend this afternoon on the ins and outs of being team leaders on Habitat Builds.
Yesterday, Chuck,Donna, Larry and I took a road trip up to Lake Erie. We went to Marblehead Lighthouse which is the light into Sandusky Bay. As most of you know Larry and I collect replicas of lighthouse so now we have another to add to the light to purchase. We went to a winery on Catawba Island and then on the way back found some fresh sweet corn to have for dinner and it was wonderful.
After returning to Bowling Green we went over and Larry purchased 2 new batteries for the coach to be installed on Thursday and then we went looking at the new coaches on display. Just makes me like ours more and more.
Also found out another couple who worked on the Habitat Build in Preston, Ga. is here so we will try and find them today.

Friday and Saturday in Ohio July 2009

Okay, today was the day that "My get up and go got up and went". Larry went to breakfast with the group and left me sleeping. I finally got moving around 9 am and then a little trip to Wal Mart with Tolsons and back to the MH. A little lunch, a little reading and a lot of nap made the rest of the afternoon and evening much better for me.
After Happy Hour and exchanging gifts to help celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the Discovery Club a catered dinner was enjoyed by all. Some of us said our goodbyes as some were leaving early and others later in the morning.
A caravan was formed by 5 Discovery Coaches that were traveling to Bowling Green Ohio to the FMCA Convention. We left the campground around 9 am and it only took a little over an hour to get up to our destination. After unhooking the cars we got shown to our parking places and got settled for the next few days.
The actual activities don't start until Monday so tomorrow we will just be able to relax and catch up with other friends who are here. We did see Fred ODonnell and "miss ellie", his little dog, tonight. Fred was our supervisor in Preston, Ga on the FMCA Habitat Build in March.
We are thinking about doing a little side trip to Lake Erie one day this week just haven't decided yet.

Discovery Rally July 2009 Wapakoneta, Ohio

Monday, July 13, 2009 found us leaving Louisa County, Virginia heading to Ohio. We meet Chuck and Donna Tolson at Quarles Truck Stop in Opal, Va. and started on another journey. We traveled through Maryland, West Virginia ( 3 times in and out) Pennsylvania and Ohio. Stopped for the night in Cambridge Ohio at a Wal Mart. Had a nice dinner at a Cracker Barrell and then settled in for the night. It was a little noisy in the parking lot as it much have been the "hangout" for the young men of the community to see who had the loudest sounding car. I think Chuck and Larry were a little concerned that they would get a little rowdy and possibly distuctive but nothing happened. I don't think either one of them slept too well that night.
Tuesday we traveled on to Wapakoneta, Ohio and meet 15 other Discovery Club members at the KOA Campground. After visiting, having pizza for dinner, more visiting we finally fell into bed around 11 pm.
Today we are going to Dayton to the Air Force Museum.Okay this was a day. We left the campground with the Tolsons and Campbells, go a couple of miles, Chuck decides that he might have left the door open on the motorhome, so back we go to check, and he had. Then we start again and this time we successfully make it to Dayton to the Museum. We had a great time but it was a long day. My feet and legs think they have been abused. Of course the guys really had a great time looking at all the planes and it is really a wonderful place to visit. I can now mark that off the "Bucket List". After arriving back at the KOA we just visited with everyone and sat outside and enjoyed the weather. It stays light here until about 9:30pm which is great.
Today the guys are neeting with a representative from Fleetwood to discuss things about the Discovery Coaches that we like or dislike. Us girls are going shopping.

I will try and post some pictures a little later when I can get Mr. Larry to get the off the camara onto the computer.

4th of July Weekend 2009

This has nothing to do with the Big A Bus but I have to record this so I don't forget what a great time was had by all.
Thursday, Bill Dorris, a friend from high school, and his wife arrived in their motorhome from SC. He then informs me that we have another classmate living in Richmond, Va. Glenn Johnson who grew up in Pine Hill District where my Mother also went to school. I told Bill to call him and get him out to visit, which he did. So then ,my son calls and wants to come out on Saturday morning with some of his motorcycle clubs guys to eat breakfast. Now being that it is his 43rd birthday of course I can't tell him not to come so we have five people show up at 9 am on Saturday for breakfast. My dear husband and Bill tell Bry they are glad he wanted to come out because they ask me to cook for them on Friday morning and Larry told Bill, you only get a full breakfast if Bry is here. Taylor and Madison ( our grandaughters) were with them and it was Madie's first LONG ride on the cycle and she was smiling from ear to ear.
Larry , Bill and Deb left to go and meet Glenn & Sharron, his wife, to see some property they were buying and then came back here. Donna and Chuck Tolson, other motorhome friends arrived around noon and we just had a great time visiting.
Glenn, Bill and I bored them with all the stories of high school and of course Larry was right in there with us as he graduated one year before us so we all knew the same people.
Sunday Bry and family came out so we could celebrate his birthday and another good time was had by all.
Bill & Deb left this morning (monday 6th) heading back to SC. We are hoping to visit again soon either here or there.
