Jan 22, 2011 WHAT A WEEK !!!!!!!

Well, this week started out with a bang, NO work on Monday due to it being a Federal Holiday and we were planning a trip to Webster to the Flea Market but it RAINED, and rained and rained. We did get out of the bus around noon and made it to Tom's Famous Burgers for lunch. Larry was actually hungry for the first time in a while so off we went. He had not had a good week as I think I posted but after doing a lot of research on the internet he concluded that some of his medications were having adverse reactions to each other. To make a long story short after taking with 2 of his doctors he has dropped 2 medicines and is to see how he does for 2 weeks. Seems the number 2 is important at this point. He is much better, can actually breathe so much better and was able to do some work on the house on Wednesday and Thursday. He did however us good judgment and did not get up on the roof because I really don't think he wanted me to have a "Hissie Fit". I am sure most of you people out there know how southern girls and I am told northern girls too can pitch a Hissie Fit. We got rained out again on Friday. We did get all the walls up, the trusses and sheeting on the roof, all but a small space on the back before the rain came. Most of our group is leaving this morning and we have 2 more rigs coming in for a few weeks before the next Care A Vanner group arrives on Feb 13th. Larry and I are taking a few days off to go to a Fleetwood Rally in Tampa and to visit some family and friends.
Last night our group all went out for dinner at a Mexican restaurant here in Dade City and had a great time. There is never a shortage of food or good times to be had by all.
Tomorrow we plan to go to Tom & Christine's rig to watch FOOTBALL. GO STEELERS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Week 2 Jan 15, 2011

Well, we started out the week with a foundation for a house and by the end of the week we had walls, roof trusses and started a layout for another house. We also had a group of young people from Illinois Math and Science Academy and we had a great time working with and teaching them. It is so good to see young people giving up their winter or spring break to work Habitat.
Larry has done FAIR working. I think he is disappointed with himself that he hasn't been able to do what he did last year but none of us can however he is still adjusting to the new medication he is on for asthma.
Today was a rest day and tomorrow we are going to church with our friend Erma who lives here in one of the first Habitat houses. We usually go as a group with her at least once a year.
We just finished watching the Pittsburgh/Baltimore football and are pleased to say that the Steelers won. One step closer to the AFC championship. Now we have to see who wins tomorrow, the Jets or the Patriots .Now we are going to watch Green Bay as several of our friends here are Packer fans.
Monday we will not work so we get to go to Webster, Fl to one of the largest Flea Markets in Florida. We try to go at least once a year. Larry always needs new caps and they have bargains there.
Until next week.

Week 1 of 2011 Florida & Georgia Trip

The Big "A" Bus left Virginia on Wednesday Jan 5 ready for another trip to Florida to do Habitat for Humanity Builds.
We met Larry and Tracy Saulsgiver at the Va./NC border and traveled with them all the way to Dade City. We stayed over night in SC the first night so they could de=winterize their 5th wheel and then we traveled on to Brunswick, Georgia on Thursday and stayed overnight with more RV Care A Vanners at the Exchange Club Fairgrounds and got to meet Mary and Tony Campbell. Mary is the coordinator for Habitat for all us Care A Vanners and had talked with both of them many times but never met.
We arrived in Dade City on Friday afternoon around 3 pm and got all set up for the next 2 weeks of building. Went out to Tom's for friday night fish and then I think everyone crashed.
Saturday found us sleeping somewhat late and then going to the Groundbreaking for a new house and then a dedication for a house that is going to be used to house the college students that come to work during their breaks. Washed the road dirt off the Explorer and now we are going to settle in to watch football.
We have 2 rigs still to come in tomorrow and we will start work on Monday. Until next week.
