Sunday Jan. 19, 2014

We have had an enjoyable week of just some down time and enjoying friends we haven't seen in awhile.
We attended the Tampa RV Show on Wednesday, which is suppose to be the largest show, but let me tell you, we were disappointed.   Not as many vendors as we would have liked to see and mostly they were prompting campgrounds .   People, people, everywhere.    I understand there were lots and lots of new rv's to purchase but since we are not in the market for one of them we didn't go looking.

Friday night we were invited to dinner with Jeff and Sharon Lawrence , our Jewish friends from Virginia, who are with us in Florida for the Habitat Builds.   This was their Shabbot dinner and what an experience.    We love being able to experience new things and understand others faith.   The meal was just wonderful.  Blessing of the wine, then the Hallo (bread) which Sharon baked and was sooooo good, chicken soup, chicken, vegetables and dessert.

Yesterday, Saturday , we came home.   Now not really just home to the campground of Habitat in Dade City, Florida.    We had not been here since 2012 and oh my what changes they have made.   ALL for the better.  We are all set up and will be here for a month.  A good time was had by all meeting up with the usual group that comes here year after year.   Grant has been coming for 14 years, not sure how long Ernie has been coming, Thomas,(who was homeless and showed up to work any years ago) is still here but now has a small house rather than living in his car.  We are looking forward to others coming in today, some old friends and some new people to become friends.

It is still cold for Florida but certainly not the temperatures of Virginia and Indiana where our family is.

January 2014

We started off January 2014 in Bainbridge, Georgia with Carolyn and Keith Newberry and friends Ann Reynolds and Maston Griffin and Joanne Newberry with a fine supper of black eyed peas, mustard greens, chicken, ham, sweet potatoes and whatever else we could find to put on the table.  Oh I forgot the cornbread.
It is cold in Georgia but not as cold as it is in Indianapolis, Indiana where we arrive from.
The weekend after New Years was spent with first cousins and additional third cousins from the Humphrey side of the family.  This would be from mine and Carolyn's grandfather Daniel Pickens Humphrey.   I think total we had about 28 people to attend the dinner at Maridel Rich Callan's home in Colquitt, Georgia.
Most of the rest of the week was spent just doing things around the house for Carolyn and also at the motorhome.   I traveled with her on Wednesday for her work so that we could just visit while in the car.   We were talking about the wedding plans for the April 5th wedding of Kadee and Jeremy that we will be helping with,. Had dinner with Ann and Maston and Elaine and Rickey Trammell on Wednesday night, Always nice to see old friends. Larry got to have "Sucker sides" at Stuart and Becky Griffins house on Thursday night, We are now going to start eating right again. Time to stop the FRIED stuff.
Left Bainbridge on Friday, Jan 10th and traveled to Bushnell Florida for a couple of nights. First we reconnected with Harry and Rowena Johnson from Lexington Ky and talked them into doing the Louisiana Habitat Build with us in March.   Visited with Nancy Wilson Benton, whom Larry and I both had attended high school with,    Enjoyed just catching up on each other lives from the last 52 years.
Sunday, Jan 12th we arrived in Dade City Florida at the Blue Jay RV Park for a week until we move over to the Habitat site for a month of building.
We plan to go to the Tampa RV Show on Wednesday since we have never been.  The is the largest in the country so we are told.

Until later,
