Old Dominion Cardinals August Campout 2009

The Big A Bus was back on the road this morning heading to Luray, Virginia. We left home and traveled to Culpeper to meet Donna and Chuck Tolson who were bringing Madie with them. They only live a few miles from Bry and Julies and offered to bring her with them. We got to the campground around 12:30pm. This is the first time that we have camped at Luray RV Resort and we are very pleased so far. It is very clean and seems to be run very well. We have the use of the pavillon for the weekend so we can have a place for our meals together. Madie and I went to the pool for a while and are going out to dinner shortly. Tomorrow we plan to go out for breakfast and then visit Luray Caverns which is celebrating their 131st anniversary of discovery. Larry and I have never been and Madie went with her parents when she was much younger and does not remember it. The official campout starts with Happy Hour at 5 pm tomorrow and then we will be very busy on Saturday preparing a large breakfast and then dinner for the group.

Dinner at the Artisian Grill was great. There were 10 of us . We had read about the place in the REC Cooperative Magazine this month.
Friday morning we headed back into town to eat breakfast at Uncle Buck's , which was also featured in the magazine. I had sausage gravy and bisquits and of course other had EGGS. Madie and I don't do EGGS. Janice even had fried tomatoes for breakfast.
After that we had decided to go and tour the Luray Caverns. Larry, Madie, me along with Donna & Chuck Tolson and Karen Parsons, Janice and Ralph's daughter. What a delightful experience. Back to the campground and a little rest before dinner with all the crew that had arrived.
Saturday found us up and at it with cooking a "Huge breakfast" for everyone. Larry, Chuck, Greg and Ralph were in charge of the EGGS and we ladies handled the rest. Bacon and sausage had already been prepared and just needed to be heated. We did cook fresh(frozen) bisquits.
Madie and I went to the pool for a while mid morning and then just rested some before our "Big Meal of Scrambled Dogs". This is a Columbus , Georgia tradition that Janice has wanted to do with the Club so we did. I will post a picture of a plate of food. Ice Cream was enjoyed by all for dessert, then a camp fire for a while and Madie got a lesson from Dick Bowen about how to spot the different star constilations.
Breakfast on Sunday and then packing up to come home. Bry & Julie and Taylor came out to get Madie and had dinner with us. Monday is going to fine me canning beans and tomatoes.
